Todd and I are officially homeowners!

Conveniently enough, Todd is also the current owner of some sort of stomach flu.

There is more than enough work for the both of us (and our kind helpful parents),

and being the ~~excited~~ impatient person I am, I'm taking on the bulk of the work this week.

I'll be back next week with some good posts!

After what feels like MONTHS of set-backs,

Todd and I are FINALLY closing on our very first home...

TODAY!!!!

I'm sure you've noticed my excitement in the recent interior related posts...

I'm chomping at the bit not only to decorate & nest, but finally have a life with my love

that doesn't involve 200 miles of travel a weekend.

Anyway, enough with the sappy crap, wheres the pretty?

This website, Moment Junkie, is a place for photographers

to submit perfect moments caught at weddings.

They range from "sweet" to "saucy" but there are some killer photos in there.

I seriously advise at least a once through.

Happy Tuesday!

Hope you all had a nice (for some of you, long) weekend!

We are in full planning mode

(and by "we" I mean my patient fiance & I as I blab to him about my plans and he pretends to listen...)

and just can't wait to start tackling these house projects!

A smaller scale project, but one that is in fact important to me & my OCD,

is properly dressing the windows.

We have a big window in the eat-in kitchen, and then

the sweetest little window over the sink on the other side of the room.

Here's my dilema, do I let the big window treatments steal the show & leave the little sweet window to be naked and alone? If not how do I dress it up? Matching fabric? Coordinating? Help please!

We finally close on our house this week

and there are a few projects that were eager to get done right away.

We have a few issues with flooring and I've been toying with the ideas of paint.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, and there are certainly more high-end looks,

but I kind of like the imperfection of it all.

My sweet mother ventured to one of those big 'ol warehouse stores yesterday

to help me pick out paint colors.

I'm pretty much set on every room in the house,

except for this one guest bedroom that I want to be "girly" but not obvious -

does that make sense to anyone but me?

In a strange turn of events, the color we landed on was the lightest shade of lavender.

I am not a purple girl.

But I am enjoying this shade.

And apparently, I'm not the only one...

Todd and I have few things in common,

but we do share a love for all things rustic.

One of the very few design items we've decided that we love and will one day execute

is the wooden wall.

My bestie Claire, who if she wasn't an outstanding teacher would make a fabulous designer,

is planning on implementing one of these in her bedroom.

(I smell a reveal post on the horizon...)

While I'm mainly excited for her, I can't help but be a wee bit jealous to know

she'll have it long before we ever do.

Happy New Year!

How was your holiday season?

Fabulous? Happy to have it be over?

Mine was crazy to say the least, but crazy in the very best way possible :)

Wanted to share some pictures from our holidays (as promised)

so, without further ado...

Our Girl's Christmas Party.

Then we celebrated our family Christmas/Ornament Exchange...

Todd had me in the orny exchange...

and thats where it happened!!!!!!

6 carats! I'm a lucky girl :)

Then we celebrated with Todd's family...

(okay so I was too tired from engagement night to take anymore pictures....)

But we did take a few for New Years!

Phewf! What a whirlwind holiday! I'm happy for the chaos to settle,

but will ALWAYS remember what a special season it was!

Todd and I have lots of exciting new things coming up this year

(Like decorating our new house!!)

Take her out to photo walks and laugh as she tries to take a picture of you. When she gets tired of walking, buy her cupcakes but wait until she has taken pictures of them before proceeding to eat them. Listen as she tells you her ideas for a photo shoot on the ride home.

Take her to a restaurant and wait patiently as she surveys the menu carefully, appreciating the food photography. And again, wait until she has taken a photo of your food before digging in. Allow her introduce you to Ansel Adams while you both eat your lunch. Introduce her to your favorite musician as you wait for the bill to arrive. When you get home, change your Facebook profile picture into a photograph she took of you. She silently hoped for it.

Take stolen shots of her. Compile it and give it to her on her birthday. Tell her you love her over and over until your voice replaces the click of the shutter as her favorite sound. Kiss her after she lifts her head up from the camera. Give her camera-shaped necklaces. Go places with her. You will never be bored again.

Date a girl who takes photographs. She will never whine about a little dirt on her favorite pair of jeans as she kneels down to get a better angle of her subject. She will never be afraid to take adventures with you. She will take photographs of you not just with her camera but with her mind as well and keep it to herself to admire at night. But above all, she will teach you how to look at the world with a brand new perspective and she will do that unknowingly.

Marry a girl who takes photographs. Ditch those wedding photography books and give her the most beautiful wedding you could. Hi there you faithful readers of mine!

So I know that bloggers all throughout the land have

more time consuming jobs, and probably a swarm of children to boot,

but I've just been SWAMPED.

I promise to give you a (rest of the) week full of posts,

and just to begin, heres what I've been up to.

I have to say, one of the best things about working from home is

being able to be around when this little nugget drops by

(even is he's more interested in the "bing" than his auntie Mae-Mae)

Todd and I had a great time catching up with family & friends

We spent our Sunday afternoon visiting our friends' ~~zoo~~ house.

there are some things you just don't get to do in the city...

Sunday afternoon was spent eating chili & carving pumpkins

(with the assistance of some seriously cute helpers)

and then, as any perfectly rounded weekend would go,

it was sandwiched with a little walk around the block with Grady...

...and Grandma :)

how was your weekend?

We had so much fun, and let me tell you something:

T&I rule at planning fall trips.

We always manage to plan for the weekend with the summer like weather in October

(not beforehand either, just always turns out like that)

AND we manage to somehow pull into these tiny towns in the middle of their fall festivals

(think antiques, farmers markets, live music, etc)

SO. FUN.

by the time we ate it was dark out - here is a terrible picture of our delicious food!

I'm a total city girl, so it's a little hard for me to be completely out of my element,

By now I'm settled into our little Kentucky vaycay.

The car has no extra room

(we're going to have to make some 'cause you know I'm stopping at some antique shops!)

and my hunny is probably in a full sweat setting up camp while I pretend to help.

The only thing that could make it more perfect is if I had that

droopy little Basset hanging out my front window :)

We drive through the pretty colors, set up camp, fish, visit the towns & OBVIOUSLY
